Test 2- Section 1
[01:44.10JIM: Hello, South City Cycling Club.
[01:47.09WOMAN: Oh, hi.
[01:48.57Er ... I want to find out about joining the club.
[01:52.16JIM: Right.
[01:53.09I can help you there.
[01:54.45I'm the club secretary and my name's Jim Hunter.
[01:58.28WOMAN: Oh, hi Jim.
[01:59.74JIM: So, are you interested in membership for yourself?
[02:02.99WOMAN: That's right.
[02:04.82JIM: OK.
[02:05.18Well there are basically two types of adult membership.
[02:09.54If you're pretty serious about cycling, there's the Full membership.
[02:14.98That costs 260 dollars and that covers you not just for ordinary cycling but also for races both here in the city and also in other parts of Australia.
[02:27.79WOMAN: Right.
[02:29.17Well, I'm not really up to that standard.
[02:32.27I was more interested in just joining a group to do some cycling in my free time.
[02:36.44JIM: Sure.
[02:37.69That's why most people join.
[02:39.64So, in that case you'd be better with the Recreational membership.
[02:45.06That's 108 dollars if you're over 19, and 95 dollars if you're under.
[02:52.32WOMAN: I'm 25.
[02:53.72JIM: OK.
[02:55.19It's paid quarterly, and you can upgrade it later to the Full membership if you want to, of course.
[03:01.61Now both types of membership include the club fee of 20 dollars.
[03:06.96They also provide insurance in case you have an accident, though we hope you won't need that, of course.
[03:14.55WOMAN: No.
[03:15.59OK, well, I'll go with the Recreational membership, I think.
[03:19.13And that allows me to join in the club activities, and so on?
[03:22.74JIM: That's right.
[03:24.60And once you're a member of the club, you're also permitted to wear our kit when you're out cycling.
[03:30.93It's green and white.
[03:31.43WOMAN: Yes, I've seen cyclists wearing it.
[03:35.38So, can I buy that at the club?
[03:37.73JIM: No, it's made to order by a company in Brisbane.
[03:42.15You can find them online: they're called Jerriz. That's J-E-R-R-l-Z.
[03:51.86You can use your membership number to put in an order on their website.
[03:56.68WOMAN: OK.
[03:57.80Now, can you tell me a bit about the rides I can do?
[04:00.96JIM: Sure.
[04:02.00So we have training rides pretty well every morning, and they're a really good way of improving your cycling skills as well as your general level of fitness, but they're different levels.
[04:14.97Level A is pretty fast - you're looking at about 30 or 35 kilometres an hour.
[04:21.85If you can do about 25 kilometres an hour, you'd probably be level B, and then level C are the novices, who stay at about 15 kilometres per hour.
[04:34.05WOMAN: Right.
[04:35.81Well I reckon I'd be level B.
[04:38.67So, when are the sessions for that level?
[04:41.61JIM: There are a couple each week.
[04:43.99They're both early morning sessions.
[04:46.43There's one on Tuesdays, and for that one you meet at 5.30 am, and the meeting point's the stadium - do you know where that is?
[04:56.50WOMAN: Yes, it's quite near my home, in fact.
[04:59.26OK, and how about the other one?
[05:01.92JIM: That's on Thursdays.
[05:03.77It starts at the same time, but they meet at the main gate to the park.
[05:08.96WOMAN: Is that the one just past the shopping mall?
[05:11.72JIM: That's it.
[05:49.43WOMAN: So how long are the rides?
[05:52.14JIM: They're about an hour and a half.
[05:55.31So, if you have a job it's easy to fit in before you go to work.
[06:00.14And the members often go somewhere for coffee afterwards, so it's quite a social event.
[06:06.44WOMAN: OK.
[06:07.43That sounds good.
[06:08.79I've only just moved to the city so I don't actually know many people yet.
[06:13.07JIM: Well, it's a great way to meet people.
[06:15.69WOMAN: And does each ride have a leader?
[06:18.32JIM: Sometimes, but not always.
[06:21.19But you don't really need one; the group members on the ride support one another, anyway.
[06:26.50WOMAN: How would we know where to go?
[06:29.66JIM: If you check the club website, you'll see that the route for each ride is clearly marked.
[06:35.47So you can just print that out and take it along with you.
[06:39.49It's similar from one week to another, but it's not always exactly the same.
[06:45.62WOMAN: And what do I need to bring?
[06:48.17JIM: Well, bring a bottle of water, and your phone.
[06:51.47You shouldn't use it while you're cycling, but have it with you.
[06:55.24WOMAN: Right.
[06:56.31JIM: And in winter, it's well before sunrise when we set out, so you need to make sure your bike's got lights.
[07:03.90WOMAN: That's OK.
[07:06.10Well, thanks Jim.
[07:07.05I'd definitely like to join.
[07:08.32So what's the best way of going about it?
[07:11.50JIM: You can ...
