The international community must act immediately to ensure that all countries reduce the consumption of fossil fuels (e.g. gas and oil).
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that immediate international effort should be made to reduce the amount of fossil fuels, such as gas and oil, being consumed by different countries of the world. Personally, I totally agree with this statement in terms of the conservation of the environment and the settlement of conflicts between nations.
The reduced use of fossil fuels contributes to the protection of the environment. Burning gas and oil for various purposes is widely known to result in the production of a range of toxic chemicals, such as carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide, the emission of which seriously damages the air quality. Meanwhile, oil spills that happen every now and then are responsible for marine pollution. If there is a decrease in the quantity of fossil fuels used, the likelihood of environmental degradation can be reduced.
In addition, international conflicts can be avoided if the demand for fossil fuels is reduced significantly. It is a fact that the outbreak of wars in some Middle East countries is because they are rich in oil. Some developed countries, in order to grab the resources, declare wars, fighting for what they want. However, when it comes to the time when alternative energy is ready, fossil fuels will no longer be treasured, and thus, the importance of them declines. As a consequence, wars will stop and people can live a peaceful life.
In conclusion, I am completely in favour of the necessity of adopting measures immediately to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels worldwide. After all, when this happens, the environment can be protected well and there is less possibility of the breakout of wars.
